Vincent Van Gogh was a post-impressionist Dutch painter deeply moved by his predecessors such as Degas & Monet. To capture the essence of their feelings, he moved to Montmartre where Toulouse-Lautrec busily captured Paris nightlife. Later, he roamed to Amsterdam to study the laborers struggling incessantly toiling in the fields. He was enchanted with their passion for sunflowers, Mother Earth, and the capricious light painted by the sun & moon.
His contemporaries never valued his nearly 900 masterpieces. Today, countless artists have realized he captured a timeless way of life. ~
